You're probably tired of getting Black Friday emails by now; rest assured, this is not one of those! Each year, around November, it seems like the emails and website posts from Review This Thing decrease in frequency. Keep reading to learn why...
The statistics on blogging and content websites are staggering. In fact, most content websites like ours will, at most, make 10 posts before they decide it isn't worth the effort. Those numbers make us really excited to announce that with this post, we decided not to even stop at 100! In fact, the post you're reading right now is #101.
Thank you all for joining us on this journey, whether you've been with us for a long time or are visiting our site for the first time.
Our reviews will keep coming because of inquiring minds like your own.
Now, that's not to say there won't be a few breaks in the content every now and then. And based on the past couple of years, it seems like late October and November are when one of those breaks occurs. We apologize for the recent hiatus in emails and website posts. It's no excuse, but the main reason we haven't sent emails recently is because we've been hunting and testing products for you!
It may look and sound like we've only been deer hunting, but we test products almost every time we go into the woods. While those excursions afield in search of the elusive whitetail deer are indeed fun, they are also a major part of bringing you the most thorough reviews possible.
This October, we focused on Adrian, who has been testing the Matthews Lift 29.5. She opted for a Burris Oracle 2 Rangefinding sight, an Apex Overtaker Limb Driven Rest, Carbon Express Maxima Triad XSD arrows, and Slick Trick Standard 100-grain broadheads.
We spent several days in the stand chasing her first deer with a bow in 10 years. In a matter of a few days/hunts, we experienced the highs and lows of bow hunting. Several opportunities became learning points for the future, and on October 19th, she connected with her largest bow buck to date.
Once that mission was complete, the focus shifted toward November. We kept shooting our bows, but made several trips to the range to ensure our rifles were ready. Adrian opted for the Bergara B-14 Wilderness Sierra in 308, topped with a Riton 5 Primal 2-12x44 scope, and shooting Sako Powerhead Blade ammo through a Silencer Central Banish 30 Suppressor.
Robbie was excited to be carrying the new Beretta BRX-1 in 6.5 CM. It has a Burris Signature HD 3-15x44 scope on top, and he's also shooting the Sako Powerhead Blade ammo.
With bow season still going strong and our rifles fully sighted in, bring on November! Robbie was headed to Iowa for bow hunting during the first week of Iowa, and Adrian joined the fun once rifle season started in Missouri.
We had several great hunts, absolutely amazing experiences, and more lessons learned. As crazy as it sounds, November ended without either of us placing a tag on or wrapping our hands around a set of antlers. We added some doe meat to the freezer, but we're still searching for another set of horns this year. Hopefully, Deercember will be just the change we need.
As mentioned above, during all those trips into the field, we tested and evaluated several different products. We're excited to have some upcoming reviews and comparisons for you that should be significantly informative. You're in for a real treat with products stretching from range-finding binoculars to hunting packs and the Beretta Straight Pull Bolt Action BRX-1 to the ever-controversial Scent Crusher Scent Locker. Don't forget to subscribe to our newsletter and YouTube channel if you haven't already to ensure you don't miss anything!
If you still have unfilled tags, good luck for the rest of the season. We may see you out there!
As always, thanks for reading and for watching.
Robbie has enjoyed the outdoors since he can remember. His earliest memories include hours upon hours of squirrel hunting and learning how to enjoy all aspects of hunting season in God's wonderful outdoors. Now he is always working hard and testing gear in the field to give you the best review and most thorough information he possibly can.
