Forloh Method Pack

Hunting packs are a lot like people: 1) they come in all shapes and sizes. 2) some leave you wanting more and 3) some are just excessive! Keep reading to see if the Forloh Method Pack system could be the ONLY hunting pack you need!

Earlier this year I started planning a backcountry elk hunting trip, and I knew I was going to need a better pack than the one I had used last time.

The Forloh Method Pack system in the wild!

So I did a bunch of researching online, discussed different brands and packs with LOTS of "experts," and was finally able to put my hands on the Forloh Method pack when we were in Montana this summer.

And, I was really impressed!

I've taken it on some backpacking trips around home, used it for a week elk hunting in Colorado, and I've actually been using it throughout deer season for more testing.

The Forloh Method Pack System comes in two frame heights and two hip belt sizes. The frame also has three torso attachment points for the shoulder straps to make them longer or shorter.

The shoulder straps and waist belt also have plenty of adjustments, the tops of the shoulder straps have load lifters to keep the pack load closer to you.

So, getting a pack that fits and then getting it fit to you should be fairly easy.

There was also room on the waist belt for attaching the Bow Spider receiver to make carrying my bow even easier.

It took some adjusting and working with the pack, but I definitely was able to get it to FIT me.

One of the main things Forloh advertises is that the Method Pack System is the most versatile backcountry pack system you'll own. That's probably the part that made this review one of the hardest ones I've done so far - there were so many different aspects of it to test.

I'm going to narrow down some of the PROS and CONS for you:

Pros & Cons

Pros
  • MADE IN THE USA!!!
  • 210D Nylon fabric that is strong, flexible, lightweight, and waterproof. It aids in noise-proofing, resists abrasions/punctures, and should stand up to extreme weather
  • Comes standard with extras like: rifle/bow scabbard, meat shelf, compression straps on bottom of pack, waterproofing
  • Plenty of adjustments to help the pack FIT you. Plenty of attachment points and compression straps to keep any load you're carrying secure and stable
  • Four layers of padding in shoulder/waist belt straps as well as in your lower back area that make carrying a load more comfortable
  • Built-in search and rescue RECCO technology, just in case

Cons
  • Mostly waterproof, but some moisture did soak through the seams and make the contents damp
  • One reviewer said the shoulder straps need steady adjustments if carrying a heavier load
  • Price Tag: $825 is a lot of money to spend on a pack, but totally worth it depending on your needs
